This is a collective posting of some of my wood works. I also work in metal and glass. I started as kid in my Dad's shop he gave me the tech background and the artist application comes from all around me. Enjoy.

This was a Hybred Poplar tree root. The top was the bottom, there is some of the bark still attached and the ribboning were the root grains are show up nicely in person. The wood was still wet turned which gives the form some unique shaping.
At 8"x 5" it would make an attractive compliment as design accent.

This "vessel" started Life out as a stump.
The base of a cyprus tree were the roots satr to spread out. it measures 10"tall and 12" by 15" acrossed the top. It has been the center of many questions when people see the piece on display. The bowl weighs less then 2 lbs.

This turned vessel is Spalted birch and Cherry, it is 3.5" tall and 9" acrossed. The cut of wood is from the crotch of the tree and has worm holes and bark still in the wood.This piece is very nice.

SOLD

This a project that started out as a that would be cool comment and lasted around 30hrs. its a Scarab beetle with an English walnut belly and black walnut "shell". The Beetle is about 4" long and all hand carved.

Rocket Ship

This was a fun little project to combine skills. The body of the project was done on the lathe and the fins were cut and shaped by hand. The Rocket stands approximatly 8 inches tall

This is a Oak bowl. The knots and cracks add some nice character to the piece. The band around the middle is a steel wire.
The piece is finished with Danish oil and it measures approx 10" acrossed and 3" in height.

Perfume Bottle

This is a Turned Lidded Vessel of spalted Birch and the lid is walnut and Birch. The Top of the handle was turned and then carved. the piece is over all around 9 inches tall and 6 inches acrossed.

Squirrel Vessel

This was made from a single piece of wood turned on a lathe then hand carved. The carving part of the piece has roughly 30hr of total time in to it carving the limbs and leaves. It was a chalange of my skill set, but a fun project none the less.
